AdderLink AV100

AdderLink AV200

Q: No video image is received at the receiver module.
A: Check that the both the red power indicators are lit on both the transmitter and receiver modules - if they are not, then there is a power problem. Both modules require power from their supplied power adapters. Check that the green video input indicators are lit on both the transmitter and receiver modules - if one or both are not lit, then a valid video input signal is not present at the input to that module. Check the link cable(s) that connect the transmitter and receiver module(s) for soundness and correct wiring as per the diagram in the manual. If possible, try testing an alternative twisted pair link connection between the modules. If the sharpness control is set too high, the monitor may not be able to display a picture. Try reducing the sharpness setting. If not already fitted, connect a monitor to the OUT port of the transmitter module and check for a correct video image output.

Q: The colours have all separated.
A: You may need to adjust the skew, please see the " Skew compensation adjustments (AV101 & AV200 only)" section of the manual for details.

Q: How do I cascade the units?
A: ALAV100 units may be cascaded at the transmitter or receiver, ALAV 200 units can be cascaded at the transmitter. Please see the "Making cascade connections" section of the manual for more details.

Q: What is the maximum resolution suported in a cascade enviroment?
A: The maximum resolution supported depends on the distance between the transmitter and the receiver and the number of cascade links in the setup. With no cascade links used the maximum resolutions supported are : 1600 x 1200 @ 60Hz at 200m and 1280 x 1024 @ 60Hz at 300m.

Q: Video image at the receiver module is distorted or shadows appear to the right of displayed objects.
A: If the overall video image is "fuzzy" and/or has coloured shadows you may need to make skew adjustments. This procedure allows you to finely tune the red, green and blue video signal timings to overcome most colour separation problems.

Q: What video timings are supported with the product?
A: The 1 page EDID supplied by default is as follows:
640 x 480 at 60Hz - IBM VGA
640 x 480 at 67Hz - Mac II
640 x 480 at 72Hz - VESA
640 x 480 at 75Hz - VESA
640 x 480 at 85Hz - VESA
720 x 400 at 70Hz - IBM VGA
800 x 600 at 56Hz - VESA
800 x 600 at 60Hz - VESA
800 x 600 at 72Hz - VESA
800 x 600 at 75Hz - VESA
800 x 600 at 85Hz - VESA
832 x 624 at 75Hz - Mac II
1024 x 768 at 60Hz - VESA
1024 x 768 at 70Hz - VESA
1024 x 768 at 75Hz - VESA
1024 x 768 at 85Hz - VESA
1152 x 864 at 75Hz - VESA

Q: There is no serial communication.
A: Check that SW10 on the 204T/208T is set to OFF and the required serial communication settings are configured correctly using the 10-way mini switches at the transmitter.
Please see the " Switch settings - AV204T/AV208T only " section of the manual.

Q: Can I use the unit with touch screens?
A: Yes, you can. The limitations are that only one touch screen can be connected to a 200R unit and when using a 204/208T transmitter only one touch screen at a time will work. You will need to switch to each touch screen individually.

Q: How do I send RS232 commands to a specific port?
A: Please see the "Serial port switching" section of the manual.

Q: We are using an ALAV104T and two ALAV100R units. Unfortunately one of the ALAV100R units is suffering from noise and is not sending any image to the screen. However, if I move it from its location it works. How can I avoid the noise?
A: When using the Adder Link AV series of products you need to ensure that both the local transmitter and the receiver are on the same earth circuit. For this reason it is not possible to run an ALAV system between two buildings.
If the earth potential is greater than 50rms you will damage the extender and void the warranty
