A: For optimum performance use Cat7 cabling
Q: I am having issues obtaining the right resolution whilst using the X-DVIPRO product. I need a resolution of 1680 x 1050@60hz but I can only get 1600x1200@60hz. After all connections have been made I have powered up the monitor connected to the remote module, and then powered up the remote module and finally switched on the computer connected to the local module, but this does not give the resolution I require.
A: The X-DVIPRO is totally transparent EDID. You need to make sure the following power up sequence is used.
Monitor – Remote (receiver) – Local (transmitter) and finally the computer.
Q: What is the maximum distance we can extend with the X-DVIPRO?
A: The maximum distance for USB extension is 50m. The recommended cable is Daetwyler 7702P with this type of cable it is possible to extend the DVI signal up to 60m.

Q: Can you use the X2-MS product with an optical fibre changer?
A: All Adder VGA extenders are analogue only and cannot be used with fibre convertors. The only product that works directly with fibre cabling would be the Adder Link Infinity. Our ‘KVM via IP’ products work over Ethernet which can comprise of fibre infrastructure, but must use RJ45 and cat5e for termination.
Q: I only have one power supply in the box.
A: The X2 local unit draws power from the connected computer and therefore the transmitter does not require an external power supply.
Q: I have a distorted or blurred video image.
A: You may need to adjust the sharpness and/or brightness of the video signal. Please see the " Image controls - sharpness and brightness " section of the manual.
Q: The colours I am viewing have separated.
A: If you are using a Cat5e or Cat6 cable over 75 mtrs (225 ft) at high resolution, you may need to adjust the video for skew compensation. Please see the " Skew adjustment (X2-Silver and X2-Gold only) " section of the manual for details.
Q: There is no video at the remote.
A: Please check the video compensation level as over compensation causes the video to blank. Check to see if you have video at the computer with a monitor directly connected to the PC. Check the CATx cable to make sure it is wired correctly according to the instructions in the manual.
Q: The video is "blanking".
A: Please check the earth connections as the extender relies upon a common earth and needs to see a similar earth voltage at the local and remote ends.
Q: I can not change the video resolution.
A: Most video cards require the EDID (DDC) information of the monitor in order to display different resolution modes correctly. In the video cable pins 12 &15 are used to convey this information to the graphics card. Please check that pins 12 & 15 are connected in the video cable.
Q: Keyboard lights are flashing between caps lock and num lock/ scroll lock.
A: The extender is in password protected mode. Please see the "Password override" section in the manual for details on how to reset (clear) the password.
Q: I have no mouse.
A: Try rebooting the PC and restarting the remote (receiver) as the mouse connection may have been interrupted. Use the mouse restoration command found in the " Hot plugging and mouse restoration" section of the manual. If the computer only has USB connections make sure that the USB to PS/2 converter used to connect the extender to the computer is an Adder CCP2U adapter.
Q: The sound is mono only.
A: If a stereo line input is connected at the remote dil switch 3 on the local should be ON. For possible switch settings please see the "Configuration switch settings" in the manual.
Q: I have no sound from the speakers when using the microphone.
A: Dip switch 3 on the local should be OFF. For possible switch settings please see the " Configuration switch settings" in the manual.
Q: Video image at the Remote module is distorted or shadows appear to the right of displayed objects.
A: Video compensation is required to compensate for the length of the twisted pair cable being used. If video problems persist, please refer to the "Video compensation" ,section in the "Special Configuration" chapter of the manual. If the overall video image is "fuzzy" and/or has coloured shadows you may need to use the optional X-Series Skew Compensator. This standalone passive module allows you to finely tune the red, green and blue video signal timings (each of which is fed along separate twisted pairs) to overcome most colour separation problems.
Q: No video image is received at the Remote module.
A: Check that the power/activity indicators are lit on the Local and Remote modules-if they are not, then there is a power problem. When keys are pressed or the mouse is moved, check that the indicators flicker-if they do not then there could be a twisted pair link problem or a problem with one of the modules. Check that the Category 5 (or higher) cable is wired correctly as per the diagram in the "Skew Compensator" section in the " Special
Configuration" chapter. If possible, try using an alternative twisted pair connection
between the modules. If the Remote module is severely over compensated, the monitor
may not be able to display a picture. Try manually reducing the video compensation. Temporarily disconnect the video link to the Local module, connect a monitor directly to the computer video port and check for a correct video image output.
Q: Power is applied via the power supply but the Remote module operation has stopped.
A: Each module has an internal automatic cut-out fuse to protect against power surges. To reset, remove power from the module for one second and then reconnect.
Q: The on-screen mouse pointer does not respond to mouse movements.
A: The mouse connection may have been interrupted. Either, reboot the system and re-power the Remote module power supply, or try using the mouse restoration command. Please refer to the " Hot plugging and mouse restoration" section in the " Special Configuration"chapter of the manual.
Q: Sound input from the stereo line input is distorted ("tinny"sounding) and only one channel is working.
A: Check the setting of Local switch 3 - if a stereo line input is connected at the Remote module, the switch should be set ON.

Q: I only have one power supply in the box.
A: The Adderlink Local unit draws power from the connected computer and therefore the transmitter does not require an external power supply.
Q: No video at the remote. The keyboard lights are flashing in sequence, caps lock followed by both num lock and scroll lock.
A: The extender is in password protected mode. To clear the password please follow the instructions found in the " What to do if your AdderLink is locked and you have lost or forgotten the Password" section of the manual.
Q: The video "blanks" when I play audio. Adderlink Gold ONLY.
A: The maximum P-P (peak to peak) voltage for the audio on the Adderlink Gold is 5V p-p, reduce the audio output level.
Q: The video "blanks" when I turn on the lights in the office
A: This may be an earthing problem. The maximum common mode earth difference that is allowed between the receiver and the transmitter is 5 Volts. Please check that you are using an IEC power supply and the earth is connected.
Q: My serial touch screen does not work on the Adderlink Gold.
A: The Adderlink Gold supports baud rates of either 1200 or 9600. For touch screens we recommend using an Adderlink Silver extender with transparent serial port.
Q: I am using a CCUSB cable with an Adderlink and have no Keyboard and mouse.
A: You need to ensure that you have firmware 1.12 or above for the CCUSB to work with the Adderlinks.

Q: Video image at the Remote module is distorted or shadows appear to the right of displayed objects.
A: Video compensation is required to adjust for the length of the link cable being used. If video problems persist:
1) Please refer to the Video signal boost section of the manual.
2) If the overall video image is "fuzzy"and/or has coloured shadows you may need to use the optional X-Series Skew Compensator (part number: X-SC). This standalone passive module allows you to finely tune the red, green and blue video signal timings (each of which is fed along separate twisted pairs) to overcome most colour separation problems.
Q: No video image is received at the Remote module.
A: Check that the power/activity indicators are lit on the Local and Remote modules - if they are not, then there is a power problem. If the Remote module is severely over compensated, the monitor may not be able to display a picture. Try using a small flat-bladed screwdriver to turn the recessed dial anti-clockwise to reduce the video compensation. See the video signal boost section of the manual for details. Check that the USB + VIDEO link cable (Category 5 or higher) is wired correctly. See the Connections section of the manual for details. If possible, try using an alternative USB + VIDEO link cable between the modules. Temporarily disconnect the video link to the Local module, connect a monitor directly to the computer video port and check for a correct video image output.
Q: Sound from the microphone cannot be heard or is very quiet.
A: Try changing the setting of Remote module switch 1 to ON.
Q: USB devices work intermittently or not at all.
A: Check that the link cables do not exceed 120 meters in length (including patch boxes). Longer cable runs will induce errors that disturb USB operation. If possible, try a different link cable to see whether operation returns to normal. Minimize close contact of the link cables with other cables or devices carrying high voltages. Such sources can induce interference into the link cable.
Q: Power is applied via the power supply but Remote module operation has stopped.
A: Each module has an internal automatic cut-out fuse to protect against power surges. To reset, remove power from the module for one second and then reconnect. To reset an unpowered Local module, remove and then replace the USB connection.

Q: I am trying to connect my USB keyboard.
A: The X100 is PS/2 only receiver so the keyboard and mouse connected to the unit will need to be PS/2. For USB peripherals please use an X200 receiver.

Q: Can you use the X200 with USB touch screens?
A: No, the X200 is designed to work solely with USB keyboard and mouse. The USB is emulated not transparent.
Q: My keyboard freezes after several days of inactivity, how can i prevent this?
A: The USB goes into power save on a time out basis and you can disable power save in power options on your PC to prevent this occurring. This can be found via Control Panel with Windows operating systems.
Q: I have a wireless keyboard and mouse with only one USB connection will this work?
A: Some wireless and mouse combo units can have compatibility problems with KVM extenders and switches. Adder is constantly producing upgrades to address new keyboard and mouse features - try upgrading the firmware of your X200. Bluetooth is not supported. Only low speed keyboards and mice

A: Yes, the USB is transparent so any USB device will work.
Q: I have a USB 2 Device, will this work?
A: Yes, USB 2.0 Full speed is supported with a data transfer rate of 12Mb/s.
Status Indicators during startup (of the local module)
Status: One very short yellow flash.
Meaning: No valid DDC information available from a locally connected video monitor, no changes made to stored DDC EDID information.
Status: Single yellow flash.
Meaning: DDC EDID information is being read from a locally connected video monitor, but no changes made to stored EDID information.
Status: Rapid yellow flash for 2 to 3 seconds, followed by single flash.
Meaning: New EDID information being read and stored from a locally connected video monitor.
Status: Two yellow flashes.
Meaning: Checksum error prior to copying - no information will be programmed.
Status: Three yellow flashes.
Meaning: Too much data to fit into the module - the module can hold a maximum of two pages of DDC EDID information.
Status: Rapid yellow flashing followed by four flashes.
Meaning: Data was lost during copying - the default data was substituted. Repeat the power on process.
Status: Rapid yellow flashing followed by five flashes.
Meaning: Checksum error during copying - the default data was substituted. Repeat the power on process.
Status indicators during operation (either module)
Status: Continual yellow.
Meaning: Valid CATx link to other module sensed.
Status: Continual green.
Meaning: Correct power input sensed.
Status: Green flashes.
Meaning: Power input too low for normal operation. In the case of the local module, this may be because the USB connection is unable to provide sufficient power. In these cases, an external power supply should be used with the local module.

A two page EDID can be cloned from the local feedthrough video port.
Q: How can I use a wide screen monitor in conjunction with the X50-MS2 at resolutions of 1680 x 1050?
A: Please follow the steps below:
Take the local unit to the monitor and connect the monitor onto the video feed through port.
Power on the monitor.
Then power on the local unit using the PSU from the remote unit. Take note of the yellow LED on the RJ45 connector, this should flash rapidly for 2-3 seconds as the information is being stored into the unit.
Now you can power down the local unit and refit this to the system, and set up the X50 as required.
The attached computer should now report the monitor that was cloned into the local unit, if not then a system restart may be required.
Q: We are using an Adder Link X50 device in conjunction with an Adder KVM switch. However we are experiencing issues with the remote unit freezing after 3-4 hours and not responding to keyboard and mouse instructions. When we reset the power the device operates once again.
A: When using the X50 with a KVM switch please ensure that you power both the local and remote ends with a power supply. Extenders are shipped with one power supply for the remote end which is sufficient for normal operation but when used in conjunction with a KVM switch extra power will be required. The extra PSU can be brought from your local Adder partner as an optional accessory.

Q: Video image at the remote receiver is distorted or shadows appear to the right of displayed objects.
A: Video compensation is required to overcome the delay effects of long twisted pair wiring, especially when running through a patch panel. If video problems persist: All X-series receivers contain automatic circuitry to overcome all but the most severe cases. If an X-Series receiver fails to automatically correct a video problem, try adjusting it manually.
If your video image has coloured shadows you may need to use the optional X-Series Skew Compensator. This stand-alone passive module allows you to finely tune the red, green and blue video signal timings (each of which is fed along separate twisted pair sets) to overcome most screen image problems.
Q: In "two-in, two-out" mode no video image is received on the second screen.
A: Temporarily disconnect the second video link to the Dual Video Transmitter, connect a monitor directly to the computer secondary video port and check for a correct video image output on this channel.
Q: Power is applied via the power supply but Dual Video Transmitter (or remote receiver) operation has stopped.
